Painting
The phantasmagorical images that magically appear as I blend and swirl pigments on a canvas delight and fill me with pleasure.. Painting, for me, is a truly relaxing activity filled with surprises. Climbing brings me joy and solace. The peace and solitude that this activity affords, together with the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the natural world, and the physical challenge of getting to where it’s hard to go, all play a role in making it an important part of my life.

No, I’m not a luthier, but my love for guitars has led me to delve deeper into the secrets of how a fine instrument is crafted. My one-month apprenticeship with Brian Burns, a master craftsman dedicated to creating the finest classical and flamenco guitars, at his shop on California's Mendocino Coast, taught me much about woods, tools and techniques and intensified my appreciation of what goes into the making of a fine instrument.. I may never build another guitar but will always value what I learned from that experience about about guitars and dedication to one’s craft.
